SUMMARY:Why Is My Dataset on Volume XYZ123?
DESCRIPTION:Jerry Spencer (Precisely)\n\nI followed the documentation care
fully. My JCL was set up to use storage group ABCSG where all the volumes
start with ABC. After my job ran my dataset was on volume XYZ123 which m
eant it had used storage group XYZSG. I opened a ticket and 10 minutes la
ter a harried storage administrator told me that they had reviewed the ACS
routines and they hadn't found anything wrong and they closed the ticket.
What is an ACS routine? What was he looking at? Is there something I c
an do to investigate this problem further? In this session I will discuss
the ACS routines and the SMS specifications they control. I will also sh
ow you some tools that both storage administrators and regular users can u
se to solve the mystery of why my dataset was not allocated using the stor
age group I wanted.\n\nTrack: Operations Management and Automation, Storag
e Management, Systems Management and Automation\n\nAudience Level: Interme
diate\n\nLearning Objectives: Optimize Storage and Data Movement\n\nSessio
