DescriptionThere is a lot happening in the unix systems services environment to make it more powerful and accessible to new and experienced z/OS developers and sysprogs. One of these is the new sudo support that we'll showcase and demo use cases and capabilities. This talk will show how to configure SSH keys and understand config files for improving connectivity, how to understand codepages, tagging and different archive formats and file extended attributes, the power of the z open community tools and the IBM federated open enterprise, how to benefit from editors like neovim or tools like bash, curl and openssl. With live demos we’ll take a regular bourne shell with password login and transform it into a powerful Unix environment with modern tools showing the productivity gains and benefits. We’ll also cover python setup and show its power to do system tasks, and we’ll cover some of the gotchas with zfsgrow and managing space and mount point volumes. This is a highly interactive session with demos and live environments for the presenters to use and take audience questions and tips from so everyone can input and learn about being a USS power user.
