DescriptionModern AI models are powerful — but without access to live, authoritative system context, they are limited to book knowledge and best‑guess reasoning. With CICS 6.3, that barrier starts to come down. This release introduces an embedded MCP (Model Context Protocol) server within CICS, allowing external AI systems to securely query curated, read‑only insights about a running CICS estate using well‑defined tools rather than brittle screen‑scraping or document mining.
In this session, we’ll explore what it means for CICS to be AI‑ready. We’ll explain how the embedded MCP server in CICS 6.3 — and potentially back‑ported to earlier releases — provides a clean, secure control plane through which frontier LLMs and AI agents can understand real CICS topology, configuration, and relationships, not just static documentation. By exposing carefully selected system views through MCP tools, CICS becomes an active participant in AI‑driven workflows rather than a black box.
