DescriptionThe IDCAMS DCOLLECT statement creates 18 different different types of records that can tell you almost anything you want to know about your storage management system. Perhaps you want to know what data classes have the DSNTYPE=LARGE attribute. Or maybe you want to create a batch report containing DASD or tape capacity information, or the storage class names of migrated datasets. It's all available with a tool you've already got. Fast, accessible, and easy to use, DCOLLECT record formats are clearly documented and easily amenable to processing by REXX execs (or any other scripting tool). This session will examine the most useful types of DCOLLECT records, how to obtain and store them, and provide some practical 'recipes' using REXX to create useful and informative reports from 'raw' DCOLLECT data.
