DescriptionByte-for-byte, tape is still the cheapest way to store data. Nearly all large mainframe installations store mountains of critical enterprise data on tape, often more than they store on disk. Moving such large amounts of data to a new tape platform, especially a new vendor, can be a daunting task. Detailed planning prior to the move is paramount for success. This session will describe the challenges inherent in migrating to new tape technologies and the questions that must be asked and tasks that must be performed for success.
