DescriptionSome performance recommendations are clear-cut. The ones that aren't are the “fun” ones!
Should you set WLM goals aggressively or leave room? Are percentile response time goals always preferred over average goals? Should you include zIIPs and GP CPU together when calculating certain measures? What zIIP or GP utilization is “too high”? Reasonable people disagree on such questions, and the right answer often depends on your workload, your shop, and possibly which "performance camp" you belong to.
Scott Chapman and Peter Enrico are back with a fresh set of performance controversies for 2026. They'll stake out positions, which may not always match each other or other experts in the field.
