DescriptionThere is a plethora of z/OS performance metrics available. Some are easily understood and their applicability is well-known. Others are not so obvious. Sometimes answering the question of “what is a good value for this metric?” can be difficult. For some metrics, there are no “right” or “wrong” values as they are workload-dependent, but it is still interesting to understand the range of values commonly seen as situations that generate metrics outside the normal range might be worth investigating.
We get data from hundreds of systems every day, giving us a unique insight into the metric values achieved by real-world systems. Join Scott Chapman for a tour through some interesting z/OS performance metrics, backed by anonymized data from systems spanning multiple machine generations and z/OS versions. You may know your metrics, but where do your systems fall in the range of values that other systems experience?
